“Prolongations” Defined by a Stutterer

Prolongation stuttering has gotta be one of the weirdest feeling things ever.

It takes a sound - usually the sound you’re going to say but not always!! - and just STRETCHES it out.

Some sounds are more awkward sounding than others - but if you make the sound of a snake “sssssss” , it’s similar except use up ALL the air in your lungs and don’t stop until you’re about to pass out. That’s close to the feeling.

✨✨ This is part of the speech terms as defined by a person who stutters series! These are not the clinical definitions! Though that would be sick. ✨✨

The Series:
Block | Repetition | Prolongation
